Ingredient Spotlight: PetrolatumPetrolatum

Think you don’t know what petrolatum is? Petrolatum is also known as petroleum jelly.

What does it do?

Topical application of petrolatum helps the skin’s outer layer recover from damage, reduces dry skin and heals dry skin. In the fight against dry skin, dermatologists agree that petrolatum is considered an effective moisturizing substance.

How it works:
Petrolatum has the ability to place a protective covering over the skin and penetrate the skin to aid in restoring the moisture barrier. It is this barrier that is defective in dry skin. While some people are more prone to dry skin than others, research has shown that as we age, our skin becomes drier.

Products containing petrolatum:
Today, there are many petrolatum-rich products to choose from. For example, new body washes with high concentrations of petrolatum have been developed to cleanse and moisturize your skin at the same time.
